Vorige week stond er al een kleine teaser op de socials van The Delines. En gisteren (donderdag 28 oktober) was er dan de aankondiging van een nieuwe plaat ‘The Sea Drift’. Die op 11 februari 2022 zal gaan verschijnen. Met de aankondiging van de nieuwe plaat verscheen ook de eerste single ‘Little Earl’. Geschreven door Willy Vlautin en gezongen door Amy Boone is het weer een typisch The Delines nummer. Vlautin over het nummer:
“Little Earl was one of the first tracks I brought to rehearsal sessions for the new album, and as it turns out the one that helped create the sound and feel of the entire record. It’s a soul/Tony Joe White inspired groove, and Cory Gray’s horn and string arrangements set the cinematic tone for two brothers who get into a shoplifting-gone-wrong incident at a mini-mart outside of Port Arthur, Texas. I love songs that just drop you in the middle of a scene and that’s what we tried to do here.”
Ik ben erg benieuwd naar de opvolger van ‘The Imperial’ daarnaast komen ze volgend jaar ook naar Nederland voor 3 optredens op 22 februari in Wageningen de dag er op staan ze in Tivoli te Utrecht en op 24 februari in de Oosterpoort in Groningen.
En de hoes van de nieuwe plaat is prachtig!
