ThijsHet Corona virus is het gesprek van de dag. Dus een beetje hoop in bange dagen kunnen we wel gebruiken. En dan is er voor mij altijd Bruce Springsteen. Vooral onderstaand nummer heb ik vaak gedraaid van het album ‘The Rising’ eigenlijk past deze hele plaat, geschreven na aanleiding van de aanslagen op 11 september 2001, bij de tijd waar we nu in zitten. Nummers als ‘Lonesome Day’, ‘The Rising’ en ‘My City Of Ruins’ gaan allen over moeilijke tijden maar er zijn lichtpuntjes aan de horizon te zien.
De plaat van deze week is daarom ‘My City Of Ruins’ vooral de versie tijdens The Rising Tour vind ik prachtig. Eerst alleen Springsteen solo op de piano en na het eerst couplet komt de band erbij:
